Topsy-Turvy for Alya

This one is done with a slight difference from the previous one for Mr Gajan. The top tier of this one slant less. I just wanted a different look.
I took one whole day to decorate the cake, just like Gajan's. The carving...layering...frosting.....zzz..... ;p The No. 3 actually broke when the driver arrived to collect the cake. I had to do a quick make-do repair...phew.....stressed lah!!!
I like the sweet colors of this cake.
4-recipe American Chocolate Cake frosted with chocolate ganache and covered with fondant. Gumpaste "13", ribbon and stars dusted with gold pearl dust.
Customer's feedback:
Alya likes her cake. The cake is delicious too.

Topsy-Turvy for Gajan

This is a topsy-turvy (wonky) week for me. I did 2 topsy-turvy cakes enough to kill my back :p
4.5-recipe Moist Chocolate Cake frosted with chocolate ganache and covered with fondant. Gumpaste "21" dusted with silver lustre dust. Bought these funky letter cutters recently and Mr Gajan is privileged to be the first one to use them :o) They look easy but a pain to use because the letters were so fine and curl at certain angles. Fondant got stuck all the time. I had to resort to cutting them manually after impressing with the cutters....ghrrr....
Design inspired by Pink Cake Box.
Customer's Feedback: The cake is very nice. The colors flow with the theme of the party. Well done!

These 2 photos are courtesy of Mr Gajan.
Display at the hotel.

The happy Mr Gajan giving a speech before blowing the candle ;o)

Topsy Turvy Cake for Aunt

This cake is done for my aunt's 70th 'dai sou' (big birthday) party. It took 10 recipes+ of cake batter to bake all the layers. I've been wanting to do a wonky/topsy turvy cake for a long time but didn't get the opportunity. Since this is a gift the pressure is off. So, why not take this great opportunity to try this balancing act ;o)
The base of this cake is 10" diameter at the bottom and 8" on the top of the top tier. The cake is enough to feed 100 people. Each tier has different flavor, moist chocolate for the bottom, coffee butter for the center and orange butter for the top. The cake is sandwiched and frosted with butter cream and covered with fondant with fondant decorations. I'm going to transport to a destination about 25 km away from my house :P
