Dibo The Gift Dragon for Kay Lee

Another Dibo The Gift Dragon cake for one-year old Kay Lee. This one came with a special request from Kay Lee's KuKu [aunt in Chinese or father's sister ;o)].
Single-recipe Carrot Walnut Cake. This cake has the dome top intact to give a slight dome look :o)

KuKu asked for the No. 1 to be taller than usual.

A flag to say the cake is from KuKu ;-) The message is painted with lustre dust.

My first ever Dibo with wings. I had omitted the wings previously fearing they would fall off. Also, because I used to forget Dibo got wings, hahaha...

We were very amazed how much Dibo and gang looked like the real ones that we see on tv. The kids and adults 'wow'ed' when they see the cake. Ava's sister, Hannah, said "I am very sad cos i dun have a birthday cake". She's now looking forward to her birthday in September. The adults thought that the cake is nice but would be too sweet to be eaten. However, it surprised them that the marble cake taste as nice as it looks and its not too sweet ;)

The pandan cake has a strong pandan flavour which we really liked. It would be good if it has more pandan layered jelly. Nonetheless, we love the cake too and would order again the next time round!
Ava's mummy also ordered a Pandan Layered Cake together with the Dibo Cake. I didn't take photo of the cake as it was for home enjoyment and was not really decorated 8-)

1.5-recipe moist chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, gumpaste Dibo and fondant stars.
Dibo dried very well but not the hands were having trouble holding up :-(
Customer's feedback: It was the cutest cake save that Dibo's hands were falling off. Overall the cake was good - the chocolate was just nice, not too sweet - a bit dry though. Most importantly, my son loved it! It was the cake that was slightly dry. This is another case of how taste differs. Don't worry about the hands, it was still cute. If my son can instantly recognize Dibo and remind me about until the next day, I say it's a success!! So sweet :o) Thank you Lim.

Dibo The Gift Dragon

Received order for this cake from Kristine who ordered the Star Burst Cake sometime back. Her 3-year old son loves Dibo the Gift Dragon. For this project I'd spent days watching the cartoon show and sketched the characters one by one with colors recorded. You might ask why can't I copy from the website. Well, the reason simply being because the characters in this cake are 3D.

Three of Dibo's friends were done few days in advance. However, due to the hot and rain weather for the past one week they didn't dry well and some had even melted. I'd to re-do all of them. Ghrrr... Apart from that I'm happy for the overall result and I hope Kristine and Kros like it too :o)
